Inside Vern Yip’s family home in Los Angeles, the HGTV star converted his basement den into an OTT dog room for his two favorite pooches, complete with overstuffed dog beds, bins of tennis balls, and mason jars filled with doggy treats.

Turns out a well-designed pet-dedicated space can be entertaining for humans, too. Case in point: Kimberly’s cat haven from Catastrophic Creations. HGTV star Brian Patrick Flynn is no stranger to a good design hack, and his dog bedroom is no exception. Designed with functionality (and affordability) in mind, Flynn dreamed up a doggy room with bright walls, canine-inspired art, and a DIY Dutch door—so you keep your pooch locked up and in sight, without making them feel trapped.

Turns out that lavish pet rooms are so popular these days that developers and designers are starting to offer them as built-in amenities. For example, at the luxe Hannover Village at the Park in Camarillo, California, prospective buyers have the option to add a doggy-devoted pet suite (as seen here in an image from Yahoo)—think: a washer and dryer, refrigerator, wash station, and wall-mounted TV—to their home before move-in.
