There could be any number of reasons you’re thinking of cancelling your Netflix subscription, but the good news is Netflix makes it easy for you to stop streaming and leave the service in a matter of minutes.

On this page, we tell you how to cancel your subscription along with everything else you need to know before doing so, such as whether you can keep on watching until the end of the billing period and how to reactivate your account at a later date.

Without further ado, here’s what you need to do to cancel your Netflix subscription:

How to cancel your Netflix membership

1. Sign into your Netflix account from your web browser

2. Select your profile, then click the dropdown button in the top-right corner

3. Select ‘ Account ’ and then the ‘ Cancel Membership ’ button

4. Finally, select ‘ Finish Cancellation ’ to completely cancel your membership

If you want to delete a profile rather than cancel your subscription altogether, all you need to do is select ‘ Manage Profiles ’ then click the pencil icon and select ‘ Delete profile ’. This will only delete your profile data including your favourite shows, recently watched etc.

Can I continue watching after I have cancelled?

Don’t worry, you won’t be locked out of the service until the next billing period, so you can continue to use your account until then. You’re free to stream and watch as normal since you have already paid for the remaining time you have left for that month. If you want to avoid Netflix altogether after cancelling, simply uninstall the application.

Can I reactivate my membership after cancelling?

Yes you can, and this is the perfect way to take a break from the service if you’re in need of one. Reactivating your membership must be done within 10 months or else your preferences will be wiped.

Firstly, you will need to follow the steps above to cancel the membership. Then, within 10 months log back into your Netflix account and update your payment information. You’ll be back up and running in no time.

What alternative services can I use instead?

There are a number of other fantastic services out there for binging the latest TV shows. Other services such as Amazon Prime Video and Now TV provide great subscription packages that work just as well as Netflix. The two aforementioned services are two of our favourites, offering a different range of programmes and options for you, your friends and family to enjoy:

Amazon Prime Video: If you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber, the good news is that you already have full access to Prime Video. If not, prices start at £6/mth, which gives you access to thousands of TV shows on-demand on a number of devices. The majority of the shows are available in HD, and what’s more, you won’t even have to pay straight away. Amazon offers a 30-day free trial, so you can decide whether or not you want to keep the service before parting with any cash.
