When it comes to nations at the vanguard of modern design, your first thought might not be of Poland. Introducing the best of Polish design beyond its borders is the sole mission of Culture.pl . This year, the culture and arts agency is curating an exhibition of innovative design brands for a tour around the world. Showcasing the newest contemporary designs, from furniture and ceramics to glassware, Culture.pl has hit the global show circuit, including the London Design Festival and Maison&Objet. “Polish design has been flying under the radar for years,” says Culture.pl show organizer Barbara Krzeska. “We’re looking to bring it to the forefront." Participating most recently in New York’s WantedDesign event, small tech-savvy company Zieta Prozessdesign introduced its liquid mercury–like Tafla mirror. Meanwhile, established brands such as Kristoff have partnered with young graphic designers to develop modern versions of original glassware patterns. The exhibit is currently in Milan at La Triennale di Milano and opening in Brazil this weekend. Read on to see the latest products. You may soon be starting your own Polish design collection.
