Since establishing their New York firm in 1986, Cornell-educated sisters Gisue and Mojgan Hariri have expanded the international architectural dialogue with such forward-thinking designs as a beautifully minimalist residence for the “Houses at Sagaponac” project on Long Island.

Their Sternbrauerei Salzburg, a luxury mixed-use development in Austria, is set to debut in 2010, as is a collection of furniture, accessories, lighting and jewelry. “Every new client gives us an opportunity for a new outlook toward new possibilities in design,” observes Gisue Hariri (left), who has been an adjunct professor of architecture at Columbia University and a visiting critic at Cornell, McGill University and Parsons School of Design. Winner of the American Academy of Arts and Letters Academy award in architecture, the team is also the subject of several monographs, including Hariri & Hariri Houses by Rizzoli.
