When Gustav Eiffel built his eponymous tower in 1889, he created a small apartment for himself at the very top, and it’s likely he never expected to have a neighbor. But on Friday, vacation rental site HomeAway debuted the Parisian landmark’s second unit, as part of a contest tied to 2016 UEFA European Championship, which is being held all around France over the next month. The company tapped French designer Benoit Leleu to create the space, located 187 feet above the ground. Inspired by Paris’s iconic Haussmann style, he transformed a former conference room into a two-bedroom flat with a living area and a terrace, perfect for families looking to enjoy the soccer matches from what might be Paris’s most unique vacation rental. Four lucky winners—who were announced Friday, the opening day of the Euro Cup—will be the very first guests to stay overnight at the site. The apartment will also host other events throughout the tournament, including live broadcasts of the matches.
