The owner, a world traveler and collector of contemporary art, enjoys spending time in the living area, surrounded by works such as the untitled painting on linen by Jacqueline Humphries. The two gunmetal steel drum tables, foreground, are from Dennis Miller Associates.

Post designed the gallery beside the kitchen to be uncluttered, "to keep its openness and to show off the architecture and the clean lines of the loft."

The countertops in the kitchen are made of granite. The range is from Thermador, and the fixtures are from Kohler.

A gallery leads to the master bedroom, with a dressing room behind the doors. The red silk-wool rug, from Odegard, "is fabulous at the end of the runway,' " Post says. "It adds a wonderful sense of warmth and glee." Brazilian cherry flooring is used throughout the loft.

"I wanted to make the bedroom light and airy," Post explains. "It is rich in materials yet is clean, tailored, handsome." The result is "quite masculine, with warm overtones," she says. She designed the mirror frame and the end table. The lithograph is Sea Light , 1996, by April Gornik.
