Given the current state of the world, there are two things we now have plenty of time to accomplish: reading books and tackling interior design projects. And with the new book Novogratz Design Fix: Chic and Stylish Tips for Every Decorating Scenario by HGTV stars Robert and Cortney Novogratz (Rizzoli), you can do both at once!

Known for their colorful, artful style—just the cheerful vibes we need these days—the Novogratz (as they’re widely known) have worked on dozens of homes, of which 11 are featured in the book, the couple’s fourth. “We chose several of our projects that we really loved working on from all over the country, from the Hollywood Hills to Manhattan to the Pacific Northwest, from an 8,000-square-foot Hamptons home to a 300-square-foot bungalow in San Diego,” says Robert. “We hope there is something here for everyone!”

In the book, the design couple walks readers through the challenges of each project, offering up solutions for a variety of design problems, from how to compromise when you and your partner have different aesthetic tastes to how to style bookshelves. “I personally think when you look through a design book and can pull away two or three ideas, it’s a win,” says Robert. “Hopefully that happens with Design Fix !”

If you’re looking to take on an interior design project during your time spent at home, Robert suggests making a detailed plan and ensuring you see it all the way through, lest you end up with half-baked projects that make your home feel like a bit of a mess. “If you are intimidated by the scope of work, start small. Paint a room, declutter, or redo your bedroom,” he says. “At the end of the day, your home should be your sanctuary and a reflection of who you are.”
