A trio of Argentineans have banded together with ambitions of improving the way people commute. This week, Lucas Toledo, Agustin Agostinoy, and Eric Sevilla began a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for Gi FlyBike, a foldable electric bicycle that collapses into an easy-to-carry or -store shape with one motion in roughly one second.

Along with speedy form shifting, the 37-pound bicycle boasts many high-tech features, including a smartphone holder between the handlebars that has a USB port for charging devices (the power is created by pedaling), a smart lock mechanism that automatically locks the wheels once the rider is ten feet away, and an electric motor that can propel the bike at 15 m.p.h for up to 40 miles on a single charge. It will also have puncture-resistant tires and a dry flexible drive belt that allows riders to switch from foot power to electric power whenever they want.

Pledges on Kickstarter had already reached $138,000 at press time (the goal was $75,000), Toledo, Agostinoy, and Sevilla predict they will be able to begin shipping Gi FlyBikes as early as next month, with prices starting at $1,990.
